It’s been fourteen years in the making and I must say that the sequel was well worth the wait! I was so engrossed in the characters and story that I nearly forgot I was watching an animated film. It’s that good! The action sequences are great, the jokes land well, and best of all the filmmakers didn’t tamper with any of the quirks that made us love the Parr family in the first place.

I don’t know how Disney and Pixar do it, but they maintained all of the best qualities of the Incredibles (2004), yet made the sequel even better. My absolute favorite character was baby Jack Jack. The last time we saw him on the big screen his powers were just beginning to manifest. This film explores all 18 (yes 18!) of his fascinating abilities; teleportation, telekinesis, and laser eyes are just a few of the powers we see in action. Then there is some stuff we see him do that I’m unsure even have a proper name! Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 14 years to see this family back in another adventure 🙂 I highly recommend you see this if you haven’t already!

MUSIC

Lecrae X Zaythoven dropped a joint album Let the Trap Say Amen this month!

It’s no secret that I’m a huuuge Lecrae supporter! He’s not only a dope lyricist, but someone who has proven himself as a real “culture maker” for this generation. His words have offered me great comfort and clarity over the years and I’m proud of his growth as an artist and human.

Teaming up with Atlanta super-producer Zaythoven was a solid move. It just makes sense! Lecrae stays true to himself and his beliefs on every track, all the while challenging listeners to live better than the status quo. It’s no surprise that the beats are fire and manage to complement his messages in the best way. These two artists came together and basically crafted a love letter to the “trap” (i.e. forgotten and marginalized people and communities across the country). If you’re a hip-hop head (or just appreciate good music like me) give it a listen!
