Becoming by Michelle Obama has been an excellent read! The former First Lady shares important lessons she learned growing up on the South Side of Chicago as well as details about her family’s adjustment to living in the White House. Her story has left me deeply inspired and motivated to pursue a fulfilling career. If you enjoy memoirs and autobiographies, I highly suggest you give you this a read when you can.
The Love Hour
“KevonStage” (aka Kevin Fredericks) is a popular comedian whose star is definitely on the rise. I’ve been a fan of his for a little while now and I was elated when he and his awesome wife Melissa started a relationship/marriage podcast. They tackle all kinds of relevant topics and share such a healthy rapport with one another. The podcast is insightful, but also hilarious!
Righteous and Ratchet
Why have one podcast when you can have two? “KevonStage” teams up with fellow comedian DoBoy to comment on everything from Christianity to Cardi B. These two unlikely friends have kept me cracking up during my work commute. They keep it honest and they keep it entertaining. My favorite episode so far involved Kev reading the results of DoBoy’s paternity test live on the air. Yup, they GO there!

Netflix content reigned supreme for me this month. I wrote a full review for Bird Box, which you can read by clicking above. As for the Fyre documentary, I am blown away by all of the reveals. I also watched Hulu‘s, and you can read my thoughts on both by clicking above.
The Masked Singer (FOX)
If I’m honest this show sounded dumb in the beginning. I thought to myself, “Do we really need yet another singing competition on T.V.?” and the answer is a resounding “yes”! The Masked Singer isn’t about finding the next big superstar, because its contestants are already celebrities. Every week they perform in ridiculous costumes before a live audience and panel of celebrity judges. So far, Antonio Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Tommy Chong and Margaret Cho have all been unmasked. There are still several stars competing on the show and I must say I am on the edge of my seat every week trying to figure out just who he is behind each mask. New episodes air on FOX on Wednesdays, but you can also find episodes streaming on Hulu.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix)
Kimmy is probaly the most inspiring character that Netflix has created. She’s got a lot of heart and her outlook on life is hilarious, albeit naive.
I love all of the ridiculous characters on this show; namely Kimmy (duh), her self-absorbed boss Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) and bestie Titus Andromedon (Titus Burgess), an aspiring Broadway actor. The mishaps this crew get into along with landlord Lillian (Carol Kane), will have you rolling on the floor in laughter. I dare you not to laugh (or sing along with the catchy opening theme song). The second half of the final season aired on Netflix this month, which makes me really sad. But on the upside, rumor has it that Kimmy will get the movie treatment in the future!
