MOVIES

The Lovebirds (Netflix)

I LOVED Awkward Black Girl back in the day and The Big Sick was probably my favorite rom-com of 2017 so I was excited about the pairing in this action/comedy. Issa and Kumail are funny people and The Lovebirds works because of their chemistry as well as the easy laughs and effortless story. It may not be super original but it’s a great popcorn flick that doesn’t overthink itself. If you haven’t already seen it check it out!

MUSIC

Unlucky, an EP from andand&&

I’m super thankful to have talented people in my life. I’ve known this guy for almost ten years and he’s been making music pretty much the entire time. Unlucky has a great vibe and I’ve had it on replay for awhile. In the artist’s own words, it’s “lofi hip-hop type stuff that’s good for studying/ quarantining/ sleeping/ chillin.”  You can listen on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and pretty much everywhere else music is streamed. Go support! (:

    1. I actually saw The High Note last night! I liked some of it also, but unfortunately on the whole it did fall a little flat. Tracee Ellis Ross was a bright spot- I wish her character had been given more to do. Really surprised by how strong a singer she is! The soundtrack is great 🙂
